Bookie

Every month, we shine a spotlight on one saver, asking them questions about their savings culture and how the product is specifically helping them shape how they spend and save for future responsibilities. Everyone has a different use for Piggybank, and honestly, it’s a delight!

So, here we go. Meet Bookie.

******************

What do you do?

I run a Perfumery that houses the best Designer Inspired Perfume Oils in Lagos; Scents by Bookie Kunlere and I also run a Ready To Wear Line for Women; Bookie Kunlere Lagos, so, in other words, I’m a Perfumer cum Fashion Designer.

When did you start saving on Piggybank?

I think I started around July 2017, I’m going to have to check my app to be sure, haha, but initially I was so skeptical about it so I saved just N1000 because I felt last last if it’s a scam, I can do away with N1000!

What are you saving towards?

Initially, I was saving just so I have enough money for data by month end; those were trying times to be honest! Later, the goal shifted to buying a phone, now I’m saving to travel later in the year.

What do you spend most of your income on?

I think food! I’m always buying food one way or the other, I’m an unapologetic foodie.

What would you like to stop spending money on?

I think food again, in as much as I love food, I can actually do without most of the food/snacks I buy.

Where is your dream vacation destination?

Maldives! I’ve seen pictures and it just looks amazing but for now, I’m working towards either Dubai or New York.

Within your savings period, have you ever been tempted to withdraw

Hell yes, I was tempted to withdraw my first N1000 immediately I got debited, I was so unsure. Over time I’ve also wanted to withdraw my savings, but that 5% breaking fee put me back in check.

How many times have you withdrawn from your savings?

I honestly haven’t been counting so I’m going to check my app right now to be certain…

*checks app*

I’ve withdrawn twice, not bad.

How exactly has Piggybank helped you?

It helped me put a proper savings structure in place, the SafeLock feature has to be my favorite because I can lock money away for a while and find other means of generating money, simply the best.

Has Piggybank actually helped you save?

Yes it has, a thousand times over!

What do you find unique or different about the platform?

No hidden charges, no transfer charges! That’s what got me hooked initially.
