Whether you’re a young adult ready to start saving for retirement, a 50-something ready to pay off your debts or a young married couple just starting your own family, sustainable savings and accessible investments are two essential things.
PiggyVest aims to help you do both of those things while guiding you through the process! Everyone finds their own unique use for the app, and that, we think is the beauty of PiggyVest.
Every month, we shine a spotlight on one saver (or group of savers), asking them questions about their savings and investment culture and how the product is specifically helping them shape how they spend and save for future responsibilities.
This month, we have a 26-year-old entrepreneur using Piggyvest to build her wealth by saving and investing.
So, here we go, meet Damilola.
—
Introduce yourself: What is your name and what do you do?
My name is Damilola Bello and I’m self employed.
When did you start saving on PiggyVest?
December 2019.
Apart from saving, do you also Invest and in what?
Not yet o, I’ve not blown yet.
What do you spend most of your income on?
Food!!!!!
What would you like to stop spending money on?
Data, hayyyyy.
If money wasn’t a concern, what would your career be in?
Globe trotting.
How has the Covid-19 pandemic affected your business?
To be honest? It’s been an eye opener. It has helped us get our operations to a whole other level.
Let’s talk about that a bit. Why did you start Vendor Pages and is it profitable yet?
I just saw that anytime someone asked for where to get something, I always remembered a handle I saw offering such services and would reply. It was a major gap on the Twitter market space. It’s not yet profitable, but we’re getting there.
How are you able to juggle your business with handling Twitter vendors at the same time?
I have always been really good at multitasking at a very fast pace, so it’s not so much of a problem.
What’s the most absurd thing you’ve experienced with Vendor Pages?
Lmao someone has asked me if i know who sells cocaine. 😭😭😭😭
What was the inspiration behind Night market?
Lmao, been waiting for someone to ask me this honestly. Well, I realized that due to the Covid-19 situation. A lot of old goods will still be in store and i just kept thinking of a way to help these vendors sell these things and that’s it.
How do you verify the authenticity of some of the vendors that tag you to their product/services tweets?
I make sure I or someone close to me has patronized them before. I always buy my things from them so I can back up my recommendations.
Where do you see Vendor Pages in the office long term?
Well I’m already working on a proper yellow pages website so it’ll be here for a long time for use by everyone who are not even on Twitter thereby creating more businesses for the vendors in my database.
When did you realize you were good at marketing? Is that what you studied?
Not sure I’m even still good at it but I realised that my brain is able to profer solutions within seconds. I’m running my MBA at the moment so that helps a great deal.
What would you say is your biggest achievement so far?
The amount of transactions that have gone through simply through my recommendation or even my retweets.
What Piggyvest feature is your favourite?
The piggyvest points (Piggypoints).
How do you budget your income?
Not sure I’ve actually started budgeting it.
Is there any specific thing you’ve used Piggyvest to achieve?
Yes, a joint savings with my friend for a trip we are planninggggg.
What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve spent money on?
Sunshades.
Would you consider yourself a prudent or extravagant spender?
I’m definitely somewhere in the middle.
How much would you have to consider yourself as broke?
500 naira.
Do you have any feedback for Piggyvest?
I think they should let us have fun app theme layouts. Like there could be a girly theme, cartoon series theme etc.
