The May edition of Open held on the 18th of May, 2019 with a theme that everyone could relate to: Personal Finance. And we can tell you, IT WAS LIT.

We got to hang out with over 100 PiggyVest users. But more significant is the fact that this attendance was a massive 566% increase compared to our maiden edition. Which means two things, we will definitely continue this event series and people love, LOVE their money!

This edition included talks surrounding personal finance, from powerhouse financial experts, a deep dive into the new PiggyVest feature, Investify and lastly, a competition called the “Money Game”.

Our first speaker was Tosin Olaseinde, a chartered accountant and founder of The Money Africa, a personal finance platform. She brought the knowledge and dropped a lot of finance gems. She also emphasized how your first and most important asset is your health.

Did you know that if you saved N20,000 monthly at an interest rate of 10% per annum (PiggyVest offers 13% sha, just saying), you will be sitting on N211 Million by the time you’re 45?

True Story.

We also had Sola Adesakin, a personal finance coach and author of 5 finance books. She taught our guests how important financial literacy is and how it determines how we deal with money.

Then, we had Chinwe Egwim, a professional economist who spoke on the economies of personal finance. She emphasized the importance of diversifying your portfolio, and encouraged our guests to invest in fixed income markets and treasury bills.

We went on to answer questions about Investify, our investment product and our CEO, Somto Ifezue helmed that segment. (Speaking of…keep an eye on your app 😉)

And you know we always bring the fun! We closed out with a competition called The Money Game! Our own personal finance focused “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire” (Thousandaire?).

We had 6 teams made up of 3 people answering rapid fire personal finance questions and 3 teams emerged with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes.

1st team got N90,000, second team got N60,000 and third team got N30,000.

If we do say so ourselves, we all had a good time.

So will we see you at the next one? Yes, yes. We look forward to seeing all of you(yes, you) at the next Open House.

P.S — We are coming for you, Abuja.
